Caster Well Drilling is founded on the principles of Christianity. The family believes in giving back to the community. They are actively involved in Water for Life. Every year the Casters donate their time and expertise in providing fresh water to families in developing countries.
It is estimated that 1.2 billion people worldwide are without access to clean water. In developing countries the people spend a collective 200 million hours a day collecting water for basic needs, and often it is contaminated water besides. Fifteen thousand people die every day because of either bad water or lack of water. Another way of explaining the problem is that 80% of the world’s hospital beds are filled with people who are sick from waterborne illnesses or impure water causes.
The Water for Life
organization started in 2005 when we drilled four wells on the International Children’s Care (ICC) campus, which serves approximately 700 students and staff. This work was accomplished using a donated cable tool drill rig and volunteer drillers. The following year the medical expenses for the ICC Children’s Orphanage and school, the site of our first wells, had dropped by nearly 70%, and infant deaths have dropped to zero in all of the locations where clean water wells and pumps have been drilled and installed.
Since that time we have been blessed by an additional cable tool drill rig, a pump truck, and 3 pickup trucks. This equipment, along with the generosity of volunteers, has enabled this organization to drill an additional 17 wells since starting in 2005 at the ICC campus.
